Description


Injection molding is a manufacturing method that creates parts by injecting material into a mold. Injection molding process refers to the process of making semi-finished parts of a certain shape from molten raw materials through operations such as pressurization, injection, cooling, and detachment.

1. Molding Principle

Injection molding process mainly includes 6 stages--Mold Closing--Filling(gas-assisted, water-assisted)--Pressure Holding--Cooling--Mold Opening--Demolding. With the help of screw thrust(or plunger), the raw material is heated and melted, then plastic in a flowing state is injected into the closed mold core. Driven by the screw or plunger of the injection machine, it enters the mold cavity through the nozzle and the gating system of the mold, finally the product is obtained after drying and fixing.


2. Molding Process

Locking and closing the mold: the mold puller quickly approaches the fixed mold pulley. When it is confirmed that there is no dirt, the system turns to high pressure to lock the sample.

Shooting platform moves forward: The shooting platform moves forward to the designated position.

Plastic injection molding: The screw of the extruder can be set at two stages of speed, working pressure and stroke arrangement, to introduce the molten material developed at the front end of the barrel into the cavity.

Cooling and holding pressure: According to the set pressure and time range, the pressure of the barrel is maintained, and then mold core is cooled and formed.

Cooling and premolding: the product in the mold cavity is cooled again. In addition, the hydraulic drive motor drives the extruder screw to rotate to push the plastic material forward. The extruder screw reverses under the set condensing control. When the screw of the extruder returns to the predetermined position, the screw of the extruder stops rotating, and the injection hydraulic cylinder is released according to the setting, and the injection is completed.

Injection platform back: After pre-molding is completed, the injection platform backs up to the designated position.

Mold opening: the mold puller moves back to the origin.

Demoulding: Mold thimble injection product.


3. Pros/Cons of Molding

A. Short forming cycle time; high manufacturing efficiency; easy to complete automation technology; can form plastic products with complex shapes, precise specifications, and metal or non-metal inserts; stable product quality; wide range of applications.

B. The price and cost of injection molding equipment are high; the structure of injection molds is complex; the production cost is high and the production cycle is long; it is not suitable for the production of single-piece and small-batch plastic parts.
